To start off your trip we suggest swinging down to the industrial part of Norwich where there are 40 feet of cascading waters at the Yantic Falls , which are said to be a favorite camping spot for the Mohegan Native Americans in the 1640s. While having fun in your RV or camper van, be sure not to miss an authentic piece of American history by stopping by the Leffingwell House Museum, which was built in 1675. The museum is said to be one of the finest examples of New England colonial architecture, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Norwich was founded in 1659 by settlers originating from Saybrook that was led by Major John Mason and Rev. James Fitch.
Waterpower in the Yantic Falls was used for a grist mill in the 1600s by John Elderkin, and later industries used it for making paper, cotton and nails.
Norwich was originally inhabited by the Mohegan Native American tribe.
