The Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests are located in the coastal plain of South Carolina and lie between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. It is home to a variety of wildlife, spans over 629,000 acres, and is popular with campervan rentals.
The Forests offer recreational activities as far-ranging and diverse as the forests themselves. There is something to do for everyone here from biking the Forks Area Trail to paddling along the Chattooga River and everything in between. Take a drive in your campervan rental along the Oscar Wigington Scenic Byway to enjoy amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
There are numerous campgrounds but the one at Cherry Hill Campground is a must-do for all campervan rental enthusiasts. Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests are known as some of the best national forest campgrounds in the Southern Appalachians and the campgrounds are lie in the upper valley of West Fork Creek nestled beneath the magnificent hardwood and pine trees. There are many outstanding hikes like the Foothill Trails, Big Bend Falls, and Winding Staircase to name a few as well as a wide variety of other activities!
The Forest Service manages over a dozen active ponds in the parks for all fishing enthusiasts.
The Forests are estimated to be over 12,000 years old.
